Trade and Industry

Al Jaber

“We are better positioned than most other companies in our field.”
The Al Jaber Group has been instrumental in supporting the growth of Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates for more than three decades and has earned a strong reputation for its diverse world-class services. With 5.5 million sq. feet of modern facilities on the Gulf, a wide range of equipment and machinery, and over 40,000 highly trained employees from 20 countries, the Al Jaber Group is now one of the region’s most successful enterprises.
Obeid Al Jaber, chairman of the group, is justifiably proud of the group’s achievements. He says, “Since the company began in 1971 we have been able to grow from a privately owned construction company into the industrial force that the group is today. We also have a very loyal staff, including many who have worked for Al Jaber for over 30 years.”
The Al Jaber Group now includes construction, industrial, trading and logistics operations. As Mr. Obaid Al Jaber points out, “The strength of our company lies in its ability to utilize the varied divisions within the group to support and complement each other, and this has given us a competitive edge over others.”

Projects in Abu Dhabi and beyond

The Al Jaber Group handles all types of general contracting, such as road construction and earth-moving (the group has built more than 2,170 miles of roads in Abu Dhabi), general construction and specialized mechanical, electrical and contracting services. It has completed major construction projects throughout the United Arab Emirates.
Concerning industrial operations, the Al Jaber Group operates an aluminium extrusion plant that has been certified ISO 9002 and which, Mr. Al Jaber continues, can match any such plant in the world in quality and efficiency. Al Jaber also operates an aluminium production facility, a plant producing fusion-bonded rebars that achieves output of some 60,000 tons per year, a precision engineering facility, a foundry, and plants producing steel, signs and filters.
The Al Jaber Group is also one of the region’s top trading enterprises. The group includes Abu Dhabi Asphalt and Lubricant Co., Middle East Equipment and Trading, and is Abu Dhabi’s exclusive distributor for Shell Oil products. The group is also the sole distributor of Kenworth trucks in the United Arab Emirates.

State-of-the-art logistics network

To complete its diverse range of offerings and to offer even more world-class services for its partners and customers, Al Jaber has developed a state-of-the-art logistics network that includes road and marine transport as well as rentals of heavy-lifting equipment and cranes. Al Jaber also provides specialized maintenance services, and its storage facility for machinery is the largest in the world. Mr. Al Jaber adds, “We have over 6,000 transport vehicles and equipment, as well as 300 cranes, including the largest crane in the world (3,200 tons capacity) as well as a fleet of vessels and tankers, which allows us to provide seamless access to offshore sites.”

American partners welcome

Having successfully partnered with a number of leading foreign companies, the Al Jaber Group welcomes the chance to serve as the local partner for American companies interested in establishing a presence in Abu Dhabi and elsewhere in the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Al Jaber explains, “We aim to help diversify the local market, which is the vision of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan. As a business partner, we are better positioned than most other companies in our field, and Al Jaber’s services will continue to expand together with our country, which is currently experiencing enormous growth in both diversity and industrial strength.”
Current projects for the group include building a new runway for Abu Dhabi International Airport, along with projects in the tourism and entertainment, industry and others. As for the future, Mr Al Jaber says, “We want more partners to generate more market value for Abu Dhabi and the Middle East in the long term, and we want to expand our business to Europe and the United States.”
